5 Signs Your Hair Needs a Treatment (Not Just a Trim)

By Bahareh·September 8, 2026·3 min read

A regular cut is essential for healthy hair, but a trim only removes damaged ends — it doesn’t fix dryness, breakage, or loss of elasticity. If you’re dealing with any of the following, a treatment is the more effective solution.

1. Rough texture even after conditioning

Healthy hair should feel smooth after conditioner. If it’s still straw-like, your cuticle layer is damaged and needs bond repair — not just surface moisture.

2. Breakage rather than shedding

Short, snapped pieces in your brush — not full-length strands — indicate structural weakness. Treatments like Olaplex work at the molecular level to rebuild broken bonds inside the shaft.

3. Colour that fades too quickly

Damaged hair can’t hold pigment properly. If your colour looks dull within weeks, the underlying structure needs to be repaired before your next colour service.

4. No elasticity when wet

Healthy hair stretches slightly when wet and springs back. If it snaps immediately, you likely have a protein deficiency. A protein treatment can help restore elasticity.

5. Unmanageable frizz in humidity

If humidity has made your hair uncontrollable regardless of product, a keratin treatment may be worth considering. It smooths the cuticle and protects against moisture. The effect typically lasts 3–4 months.
